Traditions and basic information about British cuisine
Great Britain has brought to the world cuisine mostly hot breakfasts, afternoon tea and traditional puddings. As the first to introduce "fast food" and takeaway in the form of famous fish and chips, sandwiches and Cornish pasta (meat and vegetables in batter).
Contemporary British cuisine is varied and innovative, but it is also worth trying traditional dishes made with first-rate ingredients such as beef, lamb and game.
In the UK, the island country, traditionally eat a lot of fish dishes, although seafood, once cheap, has recently increased significantly.
Tea Time
Afternoon tea served around 16 is a British tradition that is celebrated daily in homes, tea rooms and large hotels. Tea is usually from India or Sri Lanka and pita is with milk and sugar. First they are small, thinly cut sandwiches usually with fish paste and cucumber. Then serve scones, jam and dense cream, especially in western England. There may also be butter toast and pancake, but you should leave room for a slice of junk or biscuit with jam, chocolate pie or regional specialty, such as Scottish crisp cake.
